Cyberbreaches aren’t just in the news—they are the news. Yet headlines rarely mention the No. 1 source of those breaches: weak or stolen passwords. Whether they involve malware, hacking, phishing, or social engineering, the vast majority of breaches begin with account compromise and credential theft, followed by dormant lateral network movement and data exfiltration. In fact, weak or stolen passwords account for a staggering 81% of breaches, according to the Verizon 2017 Data Breach Investigations Report.
Not surprisingly, a new Okta-sponsored IDG survey finds that identity access management (IAM) is a top priority for nearly three-quarters (74%) of IT and security leaders. Yet the same survey uncovers widespread concern that their current IAM implementations are falling short. Just one worrisome example: Fewer than one-third (30%) of respondents report a good or better ability to detect a compromise of credentials.
The following report explores the gap between respondents’ aspiratio

Achieving and maintaining a high level of information security requires information security professionals with robust skills as well as organisational, technical and operational capabilities. The gap between intent and ability to be secure is evident in our sample of UK large enterprises. Deficient companies will only close that gap when they acquire the necessary capabilities. Some of these capabilities can be purchased as information security tools or application solutions, but it is more prudent for an organisation to consider acquiring these capabilities through a service arrangement with a dedicated security services partner.
This solution brief outlines how security operations must evolve to a continuous operation focused on assessing readiness, acquiring and integrating threat intelligence, and increasing the speed of threat response capability

This paper describes how malware is evolving, how it functions, and how it can be identified, neutralized, and blocked by what we refer to as cloud generation malware analysis, which is available as a robust enterprise cloud service. Let’s start with how the blizzard of advanced malware alarms is affecting IT security teams.
Despite long-standing concerns captured in a myriad of surveys, security in the cloud has progressed to a more practical and achievable level.
The cloud represents a shared security responsibility model whereby that responsibility is split between the Cloud Service Provider and the cloud customer. For organisations moving some or all of their applications and data to the cloud, acceptance of this model clears the way to more thoughtful consideration for how security can and should be architected — from the ground up. As a result, IT and IT Security leaders now have a much clearer trajectory to support their business operations in the cloud in a secure manner.
McAfee threat management solutions can cut through the grey to provide a clear understanding of risk so immediate corrective actions are taken. Tight integration between solutions optimizes security operations response and efficiency with visibility and action.
