The way we produce and consume energy globally is changing. Over the next decade, the energy mix will undergo a significant shift at both a supranational and domestic level as we work towards a cleaner future. By 2030, the offshore wind power market is expected to be worth Ł30 billion per year. Fast forward to 2050 and the industry is projected to contribute to at least a third of the total global electricity supply. While this is great news for power generation companies, recent research has showed that the costs associated with maintaining wind farms will double between 2015 and 2020. To secure its place in the future energy mix, protecting a wind turbines value and output through effective maintenance will prove critical to achieving a competitive edge. There are steps that can be taken now, to reduce maintenance costs today and keep them lower in the future. Contamination can have a dramatic effect on the life and effectiveness of equipment, resulting in increased wear rates and damage, loss of equipment reliability and reduced component efficiency. As equipment continues to become more complex, and manufactured with tighter clearances, system contamination is increasingly important to control maintenance costs and improve equipment reliability.

Energy costs have become an increasing contributor to pumping systems Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). In fact, energy cost represents 40% of the TCO of a typical pump. It is possible to reduce the electrical consumption by at least 30% utilizing Variable Speed Drives while decreasing maintenance costs associated with the mechanical driven system. This paper explains how to reduce TCO with a limited investment focused on three key areas: energy efficiency management, asset management, and energy cost management.

This on demand webinar contrasts the features of medium voltage fixed circuit breaker switchgear (FCBS) and existing withdrawable circuit breaker switgear (WCBS) designs. Modern FCBS design elements that are discussed include an internal disconnect for isolation and grounding of circuits and interlocked operation among disconnect, breaker, and grounding switch for improved safety. Furthermore, features such as lower maintenance, smaller footprint, and reduced life cycle costs that result from its simpler design will be explored. By comparing the traditional ANSI WCBS technology to that of the FCBS, this paper will demonstrate that the fixed design, which has gained widespread acceptance in global markets outside the United States, is a viable alternative to the withdrawable designs.

While simple fixes may cost a few thousand dollars, lost revenue from equipment failures can run into the millions of dollars in lost productivity and replacement costs. There can be longer-term impacts, too, if the downtime inhibits a manufacturer’s ability to meet customer needs. That’s why it is important for companies to think about lubrication and equipment maintenance holistically, recognizing that short term cost savings may be leading to bigger, preventable expenses over the long term. By adopting a total cost of ownership (TCO) program, companies can find efficiencies they didn’t even know existed and reap benefits they didn’t realize were possible. Download our white paper, “The Cost Reduction Game,” to learn more about how a TCO program can help increase equipment reliability, extend equipment life, and lower energy costs.

Shell Lubricants believes companies can achieve significant cost savings by upgrading their lubrication processes. Taking better care of equipment can contribute to savings from lower maintenance costs, reduced unplanned downtime and improvements in productivity. These potential savings go far beyond what can be achieved by selecting lubricants on the basis of lowest price per litre. There are two key elements to seizing this opportunity. The first is selecting the right lubricant; the second is effective lubrication management.

That’s why it is important for companies to think about lubrication and equipment maintenance holistically, recognizing that short term cost savings may be leading to bigger, preventable expenses over the long term. Cheaper oil, for example, may save money initially, but it requires more frequent changes and provides less protection to the equipment, which could shorten component life. For many companies, the short-term savings simply aren’t worth the longterm cost risk. “Some companies don’t realize that they may be able to reduce their overall maintenance costs significantly by spending more up front on better quality lubricants,” Saffell says. “Their equipment may last longer and they are likely to see

IDC’s research has shown the movement of most IT workloads to the cloud in the coming years. Yet, with all the talk about enterprises moving to the cloud, some of them still wonder if such a move is really cost effective and what business benefits may result. While the answers to such questions vary from workload to workload, one area attracting particular attention is that of the data warehouse. Many enterprises have substantial investments in data warehousing, with an ongoing cost to managing that resource in terms of software licensing, maintenance fees, operational costs, and hardware. Can it make sense to move to a cloud-based alternative? What are the costs and benefits? How soon can such a move pay itself off? Download now to find out more.

I don’t think it’s too much at all. However, I would recommend including some bullets calling out key points from the paper and a distinct call-to-action. Something like this: At the start of every year, more than 80% of your annual IT spend is likely already committed – in the form of depreciation, maintenance, and support for infrastructure – inhibiting your ability to bring new capabilities to the business. Making matters worse, these dollars often lie hidden in the form of inefficient or ill-advised software license management. If you don’t have the luxury of a mature vendor management function, you probably struggle to see the full picture of your future maintenance costs. This guide will give you the tools to assess your IT spend by identifying potential blind spots and uncovering the benefits of ELAs and TLAs. Some blind spots may include: • Limited visibility • Productivity barriers • Risk exposures Download now to learn how to formulate a plan to yield savings--savings that fa

Restaurant technologies have transformed drastically over the past decade, however there have been several misconceptions about the impact big data can have on restaurant operations. According to a Hospitality Technology study, only 23% of restaurants have confidence in overall tech innovation. When it comes to the state of technology many restaurants are still stuck with disconnected architecture, complex legacy systems, lack of visibility, and high maintenance costs. These challenges ultimately intimidate restaurant operators to outdated systems and processes that significantly limit their business growth. This ebook looks at the four pressing challenges and presents one unifying solution.

Managing the PC life-cycle environment can be a complicated and expensive process. Enterprises with old and outdated systems require increased support, have higher maintenance costs, and see interrupted workforce productivity. However, consolidating processes and enlisting the help of vendor partners will greatly reduce costs and provide expert-level knowledge for a better PC life-cycle management operation. In April 2016, Dell commissioned Forrester Consulting to conduct a study with 230 IT decision-makers with knowledge of desktop infrastructure environments at their organization. All respondents were significantly involved in the decision-making process for PC and device management and had significant expert-level knowledge about the PC life-cycle process.

Many premises-based phone system (PBX) manufacturers claim that the five year costs of their systems are lower than an equivalent cloud alternative. What the premises guys don’t tell you about is all the extra little hidden costs that come as a result of the limitations of the hardware and software in their systems. This guide will provide you with useful questions to ask your PBX manufacturer to ensure that you're getting the full picture on the cost of their system. Questions to Ask During an Evaluation: • Have you sized this system for my peak demand? • Have you factored in the cost of site redundancy? • How many hours of call recording are included? • How is mobility supported? Do calls route in an out of the PBX for call treatment? • What are the annual maintenance costs of the hardware and software in this system? • Which third party systems have you integrated this PBX with?
