We often think of malware as being designed to sit beneath the radar, collecting data in stealth mode, for the purposes of fraud or corporate espionage. Increasingly however, we’re witnessing attacks on corporations designed to cause substantial economic losses via wholesale destruction. For example, the Shamoon malware that recently hit Saudi Arabia-based Aramco (the world’s largest oil company) and RasGas (a Qatar-based gas company) corrupted files on tens of thousands of workstations, overwriting the Master Boot Records. These malware attacks, which may well have targeted website vulnerabilities, resulted in destruction on an industrial scale. At Aramco, IT professionals were forced to replace 30,000 PCs and laptops. RasGas meanwhile, had to shut down all email communications, and the company’s website was forced offline.

As the number of tactics available to marketers has multiplied, it has become harder and harder for many to determine where they should focus their resources. Digital marketing, in particular, is becoming increasingly sophisticated and offers opportunities for highly targeted and effective campaigns. But as B2B marketers are designing integrated programs, many overlook a tactic that has successfully generated leads and closed sales for decades: telemarketing. Strategically deploying telemarketing to enhance engagement, nurture prospects and improve your data can make the difference between revenue that goes to your bottom line and revenue that goes out the door. This kind of direct, one-to-one communication has a natural connection with the B2B world, a field built around relationships and tightly targeted audiences.

That hasn’t been true for PR. In PR, we’re still tied to legacy metrics that are more about counting mentions and ‘clips’ than about measuring business impact.

A Practical Guide to IDF/MDF Infrastructure Implementation Once relegated to early adopters and casual home users, VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) has matured. An essential element of any unified communications (UC) system, it is now the standard method of voice communication in business, education, government and healthcare. If your organization has not already migrated to VoIP, the question is not so much if it will, but when. Cost is the primary driver, since the data network performs double duty by carrying voice traffic as well. VoIP also offers capabilities that far exceed traditional phone systems, with unified communication platforms promising to integrate messaging, mobility, collaboration, relationship management, zoned security, intelligent call routing, disaster recovery, video, teleconferencing, status updates and other advanced features.
