Cylance commissioned AV-TEST to perform an advanced threat prevention test of enterprise endpoint protection software. The testing methodology was jointly developed to provide additive testing to the commodity antivirus protection tests currently produced by AV-TEST. CylancePROTECT® was tested against five competitor endpoint products from Kaspersky, McAfee, Sophos, Symantec, and Trend Micro. The tests were performed in December 2016 and January 2017. This report contains the results of four test cases. The primary goal was to show the detection and prevention capabilities of new and unknown malicious executables. Read more in the AV-TEST report.

Digital information has quickly become the lifeblood of business success, enabling firms to become more operationally efficient and to better serve their customers. As companies seek to harness their data in new ways, the infrastructure that houses that data can falter under the strain. In response, new innovations have emerged to help address the concerns of managing and protecting these increasingly important data capacities. While some vendors focus innovation development on software alone and allow the hardware to remain commodity, Dell Technologies is delivering some impressive hardware innovation with Isilon’s next generation hardware to complement its software’s disruptive capabilities.

Software might run the world, but software still runs on hardware. It’s a misperception that hardware has little value anymore. Every application, every workload, every data set runs on physical servers. Read “Hardware Does Matter: Global Server Brands are Perceived as Superior for Driving Digital Business,” a Frost & Sullivan report of 500 IT decision makers, on the value of global server brands vs. commodity servers. Look beyond commodity status to discover: • Key server purchase criteria • How top brands directly compare • How to choose based on workload Server brands very significantly, and a commodity brand may not provide the outcomes you need, especially for new and next-generation applications. At its Build conference in May, Microsoft took the wraps off Cosmos DB, the new incarnation of its existing cloud-based Azure DocumentDB NoSQL database. With a nod to the dramatic, Microsoft terms Cosmos DB as its biggest database bet since SQL Server; it is positioning it as its flagship cloud database, suited for use cases ranging from security and fraud detection, to IoT (consumer and industrial), personalization, e-commerce, gaming, social networks, chats, messaging, bots, oil and gas recovery and refining, and smart utility grids. Cosmos DB is a good example of how cloud platform providers are rethinking databases for scalable, elastic environments and commodity infrastructure. The platform that is most comparable is Google Cloud Spanner, but each of these databases is engineered for different purposes: Cosmos DB as a globally distributed operational database and Spanner as a globally distributed SQL-supporting OLTP database. The highlights of Cosmos DB include its flexibility in

The ubiquitous nature of mobile devices can seemingly diminish their value, making them a commodity to be taken for granted. But their true power hasn’t begun to be tapped — especially by hoteliers. If seen as a gateway to operational efficiency, enhanced guest experiences and, most importantly, a better bottom line, mobility wouldn’t be overlooked. Which is exactly why it’s time to view it through a different prism — or risk being left behind by your competitors who will.
