Traditional email-security defenses aren’t enough anymore. In today’s rapidly evolving threat environment, to stop email-borne threats, you must effectively defend against phishing and other potentially-devastating social-engineering attacks. These sophisticated threats are often able to bypass defenses using back-door techniques, including email spoofing, spear phishing and personal email fraud to penetrate network defenses and wreak havoc. Here’s a total email-protection strategy that can help radically reduce an organization’s susceptibility to attacks.

"It’s no secret that the way people work has changed dramatically over the past few years. As highly distributed environments become the norm, security teams are scrambling to protect users, the growing number of device types they carry, and their data. With more users, devices, and applications connecting to the network, the number of risks and vulnerabilities is also increasing — triggering a total transformation in the security landscape. In this research readout, we explore the complex factors that make remote and roaming user security a challenge, and the emerging solutions best positioned to meet the needs of today’s increasingly distributed enterprise.Explore the complex factors that make remote and roaming user security a challenge, and the emerging solutions best positioned to meet the needs of today’s increasingly distributed enterprise. Today’s security appliances and agents must wait until malware reaches the perimeter or endpoint before they can detect or prevent it. OpenDNS arrests attacks earlier in the kill chain. Enforcing security at the DNS layer prevents a malicious IP connection from ever being established or a malicious file from ever being downloaded. This same DNS layer of network security can contain malware and any compromised system from exfiltrating data. Command & control (C2) callbacks to the attacker’s botnet infrastructure are blocked over any port or protocol. Unlike appliances, the cloud service protects devices both on and off the corporate network. Unlike agents, the DNS layer protects every device connected to the network — even IoT. It is the easiest and fastest layer of security to deploy everywhere.

"We live and surf in a cyber world where attacks like APT, DDOS, Trojans and Ransomware are common and easy to execute. Domain names are an integral part of any business today and apparently an integral part of an attacker's plan too. Domain names are carriers of malwares, they act as Command and Control servers and malware's ex-filtrate data too. In today's threat landscape - predicting threats, spotting threats and mitigating them is super crucial.. This is called Visibility and Analytics. Watch this on demand session with our Cisco cloud security experts Shyam Ramaswamy and Fernando Ferrari as they talk about how Cisco Umbrella and The Umbrella Research team detect anomalies, block threats and identify compromised hosts. The experts also discuss how effectively Cisco spot, react, filter out IOC, block the network communications of a malware; identify and stop a phishing campaign (unknown ones too). "

Users are working off-hours, off-network, and off-VPN. Are you up on all the ways DNS can be used to secure them? If not, maybe it’s time to brush up. More than 91% of malware uses DNS to gain command and control, exfiltrate data, or redirect web traffic. Because DNS is a protocol used by all devices that connect to the internet, security at the DNS layer is critical for achieving the visibility and protection you need for any users accessing the internet. Learn how DNS-layer security can help you block threats before they reach your network or endpoints.

Nearly all cyberattacks must cross the network, but security analysts often struggle to make quick sense of traffic at scale for hunting and incident response, trapped between data-starved logs (e.g. Netflow) and too much data (full packets) to analyze in time. What if instead there was a “Goldilocks’ for network data? This free 1-hour webinar from GigaOm Research brings together experts in network traffic analysis, featuring GigaOm analyst Simon Gibson and a special guest from Corelight, Steve Smoot. They’ll discuss the evolution of network analysis and explain how open-source Zeek (formerly Bro) came to be the network traffic analysis tool of choice for security analysts to make fast sense of their traffic. We’ll dive into Zeek’s creation at Livermore Labs and discusses some of the challenges that come with using it in large, fast network environments and explain how Corelight enables organizations to quickly take advantage of the power of Zeek at scale. Imperva, an APN Security Competency Partner, can help protect your application workloads on AWS with the Imperva SaaS Web Application Security platform. The Imperva high-capacity network of globally distributed security services protects websites against all types of DDoS threats, including networklevel Layer 3 and Layer 4 volumetric attacks—such as synchronized (SYN) floods and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) floods—and Layer 7 application-level attacks (including the OWASP Top 10 threats) that attempt to compromise application resources. Harnessing real data about current threats from a global customer base, both the Web Application Firewall (WAF) and DDoS protection, incorporate an advanced client classification system that blocks malicious traffic without interfering with legitimate users. Enterprises can easily create custom security rules in the GUI to enforce their specific security policy. In addition, this versatile solution supports hybrid environments, allowing you to manage th

DigiCert implemented Imperva to protect their hybrid environment. They were already using Imperva’s WAF on-premises to defend against Layer 7 attacks, known threats, and zero-day attacks to rapidly identify the threats that required investigation. By expanding their usage of Imperva, DigiCert was able to extend protection to AWS and maintain their security posture both during and after migration. Imperva’s sophisticated threat detection technology draws upon vast experience in the WAF market. As traffic passes through their network, advanced client classification technology (together with crowdsourcing and IP reputation data) automatically analyzes it to identify and block web application attacks. These include SQL injection, cross-site scripting, illegal resource access, comment spam, site scraping, malicious bots, and other top threats. Granular filters and controls reduce false positives and prevent access from unwanted visitors, while IP address shielding hides the web server’s IP

Uncover the riskiest 1% of threats you’ve been missing. In hours. Not days or months. Nearly all endpoint security solutions claim to block 99% of malware. But what about the 1% of threats they miss? The most dangerous 1% of threats will wreak havoc on your network. If you rely solely on traditional point-in-time technologies, such as antivirus, those threats can go undetected for 200 days on average. For months on end, they can be creeping in and moving laterally across your network causing damage through stealthy malware campaigns without you even knowing it—until it’s too late.
