"Fingers wagging, eyes squinting –“Why didn’t you find this problem during testing?!”How many times have you been asked that, only to try to defend yourself with things like “we can’t test everything!” and “it’s a corner case”? Everyone knows you can’t improve quality by testing alone, so what can you do when your testing team is taking the blame for poor quality in production?
Join us on this TechByte session where we will discuss practices and tools that will help improve your test effectiveness and overall quality."

The software as a service (SaaS) model of application delivery, more commonly known as ‘cloud deployment’, in which software features are accessed through a Web browser, is an excellent way for manufacturing companies to get the bene?ts of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems without the need to build additional IT infrastructure. ERP functionality delivered “from the cloud” avoids the complexity and costs that often accompany on premisess ERP implementations, and typically provides a much more favorable total cost of ownership, compared to legacy on premisess deployment. Companies subscribe to the software features that they need and can add new ones as business requirements change, without buying additional servers or storage to support new functionality. The ERP features are the same as for an on premises ERP system, except that it is hosted and maintained on the Cloud provider’s infrastructure.

Traditionally, rollout of a new software version has been a critical and painful process. In the past, new versions were implemented along with a maintenance period (i.e., service downtime),
resulting in loss of business for that period. This downtime was generally acceptable when there were only a few releases a year. But now—in a more fast-paced world of hosted software-as-aservice (SaaS) solutions, increased responsiveness and daily or even more frequent releases—down times are no longer acceptable or a?ordable.
Continuous Delivery is a practice used in the software industry to automate and improve the process of software delivery. It is all about adopting practices to release high-quality software fast through automation of the build, test and deployment processes.
A great team is what makes a company successful. The maxim’s stayed true for decades, but what’s changed is the technology available to find, train, and retain that talent.
Now, you have the ability to spread your talent pool across oceans. Each worker can have a specialized skill set to meet
a range of needs within your company, and oftentimes the work will require some degree of a remote lifestyle. These needs can range from permanent remote workers to employees who travel regularly for client meetings. In fact, a 2015 Gallup poll reported that 37% of all United States workers said they have telecommuted. Being able to accommodate both workers who are out of range and those who are always on the go will help improve your company’s overall productivity and quality of work.

Developers must deliver high-quality applications while limiting their testing expenses. In this challenging environment, a combination of automated integration testing and test virtualization can enable test teams to improve software quality and keep up with the rate of change.
Applications are evolving at an ever-faster pace. These applications are not discrete islands; they build on a complex, interconnected set of components that includes disparate technologies, developers, deployment topologies and organizations. Developers must deliver high-quality applications while limiting their testing expenses. In this challenging environment, a combination of automated integration testing and test virtualization can enable test teams to improve software quality and keep up with the rate of change. This whitepaper helps address these needs by describing the benefits that can be gained through a proactive and continuous approach to integration testing with IBM® Rational® test automation solutions.
Dramatic shifts in workplace norms as a result of remote sales teams are now a reality, as field-based personnel perform so many vital selling and strategic account management business functions, more effectively armed with tablets than ever before. Aberdeen research conducted for Sales Performance Management 2012: How the Best-in-Class Optimize the Front Line to Grow the Bottom Line (December 2011), shows that 60% of companies’ sales team members are primarily remote workers. Indeed, in Aberdeen research for Mobile HCM: Workforce and Talent Management on the Move (June 2010), 57% of respondents who track the impact of their mobile recruiting efforts report improved quality and/or size of their talent pool as a result of their work. Does attracting and retaining a quality sales force thus require corporate technologies and processes that are influenced by consumer trends and cultural sea changes? Moreover, are there benefits to enterprises that enable their sales team to work remotely?
