NSS Labs performed an independent test of the Cisco AMP for Endpoints v6.0.5. The product was subjected to thorough testing at the NSS facility in Austin, Texas, based on the Advanced Endpoint Protection (AEP) Test Methodology v2.0, which is available at www.nsslabs.com. This test was conducted free of charge and NSS did not receive any compensation in return for Cisco’s inclusion. This report provides detailed information about this product and its security effectiveness. Additional comparative information is available at www.nsslabs.com. As part of the initial AEP test setup, products were configured in a deployment mode typical to enterprises. As such, products were configured to mimic an enterprise environment by applying typical applications such as exclusion policies and tuning requirements. All product-based configurations are reviewed, validated, and approved by NSS prior to the test. Every effort is made to ensure optimal security effectiveness, as would be the aim of a typi

The IoT is transforming the energy industry by eliminating tradeoffs between operation, SCADA systems, maintenance and new services for assets deployed in industrial and power facilities, buildings and across the grid. When it comes to building the best IoT system for your business application, it’s vital to keep your use case and business requirements at the forefront of your technical design strategy. In the energy industry, accessing and collecting data at the edge from disparate, heterogenous, multi-site, fixed topologies and transferring that data efficiently to the cloud to perform analytics and action business decisions is still the greatest challenge. Mission-critical data collected from the edge is integral to energy facility operations and cannot be excluded or corrupted.

In 2010, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota underwent a renovation at its Minneapolis facility. The goal was to transform the entire location into a place where patients and families – who previously received care in a shared-space environment – would enjoy private, family-centric rooms. Such a renovation would also transform the way staff worked together. Minnesota Children’s used the project as an opportunity to reevaluate its entire workflow and communications infrastructure. Read this case study to learn how Minnesota Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota implemented AeroScout® Real-Time Staff Visibility Solutions to achieve a quieter patient environment, enhanced safety, and improved workflow.

As workplace researcher Robert Propst observed in A Facility Based on Change, “Not only must we accept change, we must adjust to accelerated growth.” If your office doesn’t reflect who you are now and who you hope to become in the future, accelerated growth can feel especially painful. Whoever you are, you can’t escape change. But we think that workplaces can actually be catalysts for growth without all the growing pains. Whether you’re trying to spark innovative thinking or encourage people to work together more efficiently, you can reach your goals with a workplace tailored to your unique needs. We’ve been capturing workplace data and transforming it into growth-enhancing insight since Propst began studying the connections between people, work, and the workplace nearly 50 years ago. One of the fundamental decisions in the design of data centers, server rooms and network closets is which uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to use. You cannot be certain that the power you receive from your local utility will be suitable for your equipment, or that it will always be available. And even when you are receiving good-quality power from the utility, equipment inside your facility (such as electric motors) can introduce power problems. A network/server UPS system conditions input power 24x7 to ensure that your equipment always receives reliable power and protection from damaging and disruptive power problems. A network/server UPS system also supports your equipment during power failures, providing enough battery backup runtime to outlast shorter outages. During longer outages, the UPS system will provide enough runtime to save files and gracefully shut down systems or to ensure that equipment is powered until standby generators are ready to support the load. If your company relies on passwords to prevent unauthorized computer access, or low-tech memory cards (e.g., swipe cards) for facility access, you have security on par with the average 1980s car. Smart credentials — embedded in plastic smartcards, USB tokens or mobile devices — offer companies advanced and versatile user authentication features. This white paper discusses the advantages of using smart credentials for multifunction access; describes the hardware and software components used in a smart credential environment; and provides questions to ask when searching for a smart credential solution provider.

Data centers are large, important investments that, when properly designed, built, and operated, are an integral part of the business strategy driving the success of any enterprise. Yet the central focus of organizations is often the acquisition and deployment of the IT architecture equipment and systems with little thought given to the structure and space in which it is to be housed, serviced, and maintained. This invariably leads to facility infrastructure problems such as thermal “hot spots”, lack of UPS (uninterruptible power supply) rack power, lack of redundancy, system overloading and other issues that threaten or prevent the realization of the return on the investment in the IT systems.

Today's data centers are embarking down a path in which "old world" business, technology, and facility metrics are being pushed aside in order to provide unparalleled service delivery capabilities, processes, and methodologies. The expectations derived from today’s high-density technology deployments are driving service delivery models to extremes with very high service delivery capabilities adopted as baseline requirements within today’s stringent business models. Part of the "revolution" that is driving today's data center modeling to unprecedented high performance and efficiency levels is the fact that computer processing advances with regard to high-performance and smaller footprints have truly countered each other.
