Storage virtualization has been around for several decades. While technologies have advanced and capabilities have become more sophisticated over time, the motivations for virtualizing resources and the anticipated benefits have remained relatively stable. Storage virtualization continues to be an important topic because it addresses a number of significant challenges.
The HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) product family offers midsize to enterprise size customers leading performance, high capacity, and high-availability storage solutions for reducing IT costs and complexity. The EVA provides virtualized storage enabling capacity pooling, simplified management, automatic performance load balancing, dynamic configuration, and re-configuration.
Enterprise Strategy Group analysts Mark Bowker and Mark Peters will share the business drivers and benefits for virtualizing both servers and storage. You'll gain an understanding of IT infrastructure virtualization in order to evaluate the operational benefits it could provide. You'll also learn what steps to take to assess your IT environment to quantify the benefits of virtualization.
In this session, HP and ESG Storage Virtualization experts will share real HP customer case studies who have deployed virtualization in their environments and realized significant business benefits as a result.
This white paper describes a set of best practices to deploy a 1,500-user virtualized Exchange 2007 environment using VMwareŽ ESXT 3.5. Specifically, this project demonstrates how to configure and deploy the Exchange 2007 Mailbox, Hub Transport, and Client Access server roles onto individual VMware virtual machines (VMs), which in turn are deployed onto a single VMware ESX Server. The environment includes HP ProLiant c-Class Blade servers connected to an HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA4400) Disk Array.
