MBSI was providing approximately 800 virtual desktops to their employees using VMware Horizon with View and 8 VMware ESXi hosts and they were running an additional 140 virtual servers using 5 VMware ESXi hosts – all on a Tegile Hybrid SAN.
“It was shortly after we converted from ICD-9 diagnosis codes to ICD-10 codes that performance for the VDI desktops began to suffer noticeably,” explained Shawn Wood, Assistant Manager of Systems Administration, MBSI. “We have relied on Xangati for a number of years now to help us quickly see where bottlenecks are in a short period of time. It's an important part of maintaining the integrity of our infrastructure.”

NetApp has been providing advanced storage features to VMware ESX solutions since the product began shipping in 2001. During that time, NetApp has developed operational guidelines for the FAS systems and ESX Server. This technical report reviews the best practices for implementing VMware® Virtual Infrastructure on NetApp fabric-attached storage (FAS) systems.
As organizations continue to deploy server virtualization, questions have shifted from "if" to "how." Out of all 220 inquiries Forrester's IT infrastructure and operations team answered on data centers, servers, and virtual appliances in 2008 to date, 72 were specifically in regard to server virtualization. These IT professionals' most common inquiries addressed vendor comparison, optimum physical to virtual consolidation ratios, expected ROI, and situation-specific concerns regarding the possible benefits that virtual servers could provide. These inquiries came from organizations in the early stages of implementing server virtualization — if you are considering or are in the process of implementing, you too should be asking these questions.
CA ARCserve® Backup, CA XOsoft™ Replication, and CA XOsoft™ High Availability provide several key features that enable you to both protect virtualized servers and benefit from server virtualization in your overall recovery management strategy

Dell servers have been optimized to help provide strong support for the latest ESX release, VMware ESX 3.5 Update 2, including enhanced performance for virtualized environments based on support for six-core Intel Xeon processors. Organizations that do not approach server virtualization with a clear plan risk developing a chaotic, inflexible infrastructure that wastes energy and resources.
Live migration is essential for a dynamic data center environment. But until now, it's been impossible between different generations of processors. Intel IT and End User Platform Integration have done so successfully with Intel® Virtualization Technology FlexMigration. This white paper explains how.

There are probably as many approaches to data protection and disaster recovery as there are types of disasters that might befall your datacenter. Figuring out which approach is best for your datacenter—from a technical, operational and financial outlook—is enough to keep a responsible manager like you up at night. Download this paper to learn about the proven, flexible solution that prepares your data to survive and recover from almost any calamity, from HP and VMware.
This white paper describes a set of best practices to deploy a 1,500-user virtualized Exchange 2007 environment using VMware® ESXT 3.5. Specifically, this project demonstrates how to configure and deploy the Exchange 2007 Mailbox, Hub Transport, and Client Access server roles onto individual VMware virtual machines (VMs), which in turn are deployed onto a single VMware ESX Server. The environment includes HP ProLiant c-Class Blade servers connected to an HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA4400) Disk Array.
This white paper describes a virtualized infrastructure that applies storage and server virtualization technologies to cost-effectively achieve a flexible, high performance, dynamic IT infrastructure that is simple to manage and scale.
According to the National Archives and Records Administration, 93 percent of companies that lost their data center for 10 days or more due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year of the disaster. Don't let that happen to you, learn more today!
