Enterprise IT is changing. It’s evolving from a rigid, static, manually configured and managed architecture to one where connectivity is dynamic, application services are on demand, and processes are automated. Enterprise networking is evolving along with IT. This has been evident in the past several years in initiatives such as enterprise digitization and as-a-service consumption models, as well as their enablers, including BYOD, IoT and cloud. Add to this, all of the security implications of each initiative. The purpose of this paper is to assess the switching requirements for next-generation campus networks incorporating wired switches, wireless LANs and WAN routers in an intuitive, intent-based network supporting cloud, mobility, IoT and digitization, with pervasive security.

Traditional insurers are no longer safe with insurtechs challenging incumbents to rethink their business and operating models. This mass disruption creates increased pressure on IT to deliver intrinsic business value, including new services, customer touchpoints, and experiences. Successful insurance transformation requires rethinking the traditional IT operating model to allow IT to focus on creating reusable assets that empower lines of business. Doing so increases IT’s delivery capacity, making businesses more agile. Read this whitepaper to learn: An overview of the challenges insurers are facing in the industry. How a new IT operating model – API-led connectivity – allows IT teams to unlock data from legacy systems and drive reuse across the enterprise. Strategies for using APIs to create a single view of the customer and build connected customer experiences.

In the wake of recent legislative pressures and the formation of the Digital Transformation Agency, Australian state and federal government agencies face an imperative to deliver superior digital services to employees and citizens without a corresponding increase in budget. As a result, many agencies have turned to IT modernisation as a means of driving more cost-effective digital transformation. The key to successful execution of digital transformation initiatives depends on a new approach to integration and API strategy called API-led connectivity. In this whitepaper, you will learn: Why Australian government agencies must change how they deliver IT projects, and the role integration and an API strategy play in supporting the modernisation of government IT How to build out an API-led architecture within a government agency to realise 2-5x increases in IT productivity How best practice from initiatives like Service NSW provide a model for government agencies to pursue digital trans

Evolving citizen and constituent expectations have created the imperative for government to digitally transform. Delivering on digital transformation grows more challenging by the year, as the proliferation of modern technologies (e.g. SaaS, mobile, IoT) forces IT teams to rethink how to best deliver projects to their constituents and deliver on their mission. Microservices have emerged as a means through which government IT teams can increase project delivery speed without compromising on security. This whitepaper discusses the role microservices can play in government, and how API-led connectivity helps agencies to more effectively and securely implement a microservices architecture. Readers will learn: Why government IT teams must move beyond point-to-point integration How API-led connectivity supports microservices adoption in government How government can use MuleSoft’s FedRAMP In Process integration platform to rapidly develop APIs and microservices

“Today’s shoppers expect more than a transactional relationship with retailers; they want a seamless and personalized journey that reflects the context of how they shop across devices and channels. The key to success lies in connecting in-store software with online systems so retailers can provide an uninterrupted experience wherever customers shop.” - Ross Mason, Founder of MuleSoft Driving digital transformation in retail requires connectivity across an ever-increasing number of applications, data and devices. Because of this, connectivity has emerged as a bottleneck that slows the development of new applications and the adoption of new technologies to meet customer demands. In response, leading retail and CPG companies have adopted API-led connectivity, which eliminates this connectivity bottleneck and enables a 2-5x faster IT project delivery across the value chain. The world of retail is changing dramatically. Retailers used to have anonymous, transactional relationships with their customers; but now both retailers and customers want a deeper relationship. The retailers that win today are the ones that use technology to build those personal customer experiences and transform their digital retail experience. However, it isn’t always easy to implement new solutions with existing systems. Read this eBook to discover: Why existing approaches are not sufficient for the pace of digital transformation that retail demands How to drive technology change in your organization, creating a greater capability to innovate and transforming the digital retail experience for your customers How to adopt an API-led approach to integration that packages underlying connectivity and orchestration services as easily discoverable and reusable building blocks

Today, government IT teams are expected to deliver more services with fewer resources. Consequently, many agencies have prioritized legacy modernization, interoperability, and shared service models as a means towards increasing IT delivery capacity. We propose that successful execution of these initiatives within the confines of a strictly managed budget requires a new approach to integration, one centered around APIs. Our recommended approach, API-led connectivity, builds on the principles of reuse first outlined by SOA, while avoiding many of the pitfalls that limited the success of heavyweight SOA implementations. In this whitepaper, you will learn: What forces drive digital transformation in federal government, and what role integration plays in supporting digital transformation How a civilian federal agency leveraged APIs to modernize legacy systems and accelerate the speed of integration How to build out an API-led architecture within a government agency to accelerate project

The quick-service restaurant industry continues to be a favorite among consumers who look to the sector for a wide variety of food served quickly and at a low price. The speed and efficiency of QSRs, which include the emergent “fast casual” restaurants, match today’s on-the-go lifestyle of consumers across all ages who often are too busy to cook at home. That said, consumers expect their dining experience at a QSR to be comfortable with conveniences ranging from WiFi connectivity to ordering kiosks and dining area entertainment on large screens or even tableside tablets. They expect the information on menu boards to be accurate and up-to-date and their meal orders to be fulfilled quickly and accurately. Technology is a major enabler in meeting consumers’ expectations while simultaneously helping QSR locations increase operational efficiencies and quality of service.

All of these elements of growing connectivity have the potential to significantly increase productivity, streamline operations and enhance service levels to citizens and stakeholders. But these benefits are only one side of the story. The added complexity of the new eGovernment environment also creates many new challenges, as government agencies search for effective ways to secure and control access to the rapidly growing number and variety of gateways to their ecosystems.

Online images used to be simple. In the past, they weren’t the focal point of a page — there were only a handful of images on a given page and all users were viewing online images on a desktop with dial-up. That has all changed. Today’s web pages are dynamic, filled with images and viewed by end users on different devices with varying connectivity. As audience expectations for rich web experiences have grown, so has the requirement to deliver increasingly image-heavy web applications. The problem? The cost and complexity of creating, storing, and delivering web images tailored for every device poses a significant challenge for businesses, but failing to address the increasing diversity across devices and networks will lead to a poor and inconsistent user experience. Current solutions don’t solve this problem completely.

Historically, the speed of a wired connection at the access edge has always been faster than that of a wireless connection. This means workers had to choose between the performance of wired connectivity and the convenience of a wireless connection. Consequently, workers often had to modify the way they worked— first, finding a wired port to use for high-bandwidth applications, such as video or streaming media, and then shifting to wireless connections when the need to be mobile was more important than having the performance of wired.

The Internet of Things may be a hot topic in the industry but it’s not a new concept. In the early 2000’s, Kevin Ashton was laying the groundwork for what would become the Internet of Things (IoT) at MIT’s AutoID lab. Ashton was one of the pioneers who conceived this notion as he searched for ways that Proctor & Gamble could improve its business by linking RFID information to the Internet. The concept was simple but powerful. If all objects in daily life were equipped with identifiers and wireless connectivity, these objects could be communicate with each other and be managed by computers.
