Application consolidation can be an important cloud initiative. By consolidating applications on an all-flash, cloud-centric platform, IT has the opportunity to reduce costs, lower risk and support a more integrated and interoperable infrastructure. But for any organization thinking about application consolidation, it is important to closely evaluate the features and functions of the underlying all-flash storage platform. You want to make sure that your platform not only delivers the performance you need, but also enables you to reduce costs, eliminate migrations, simplify operations and support cloud-enabled business agility.

The risk and downtime of server migration have locked many IT teams into platforms that are no longer ideal. Migrations are often delayed or avoided—whether it’s moving data to the cloud or back on premises, or upgrading the hardware of the database software. This results in lost opportunities, unnecessary costs, and a lack of agility that today’s IT teams can no longer afford. Carbonite Move Powered by DoubleTake quickly and easily migrates physical, virtual, and cloud workloads over any distance with minimal risk and near-zero downtime. Using efficient real-time, byte-level replication technology, Carbonite Move creates a replica of the data, application, database, or entire server being migrated and keeps it in sync with the production system. The migrated data can be validated without disrupting business operations, and downtime is limited to the seconds or minutes required for cutover to the new server.

Sophisticated banking requires sophisticated computing systems. But which systems offer the greatest chance for success? Many banks are discovering that the answer can be found within their on-premise data centers – the mainframe computer. Mainframes have become a modern platform for innovation. When operating in a hybrid cloud environment, mainframes provide cost flexibility, scalability, agility, sophistication and unmatched security. And they support innovation, business transformation and new types of monetization. The power of mainframe computing is being rediscovered. Specifically, in a recent 2017 survey of banking executives, we found that: • 50 percent said they believe hybrid cloud – and the systems that underpin it – can significantly lower the cost of IT ownership • 47 percent said they believe mainframe enabled hybrid cloud can improve operating margin • 47 percent said they believe dual-platform hybrid cloud can accelerate innovation. While innovation and improved p

Noble Group needed to revamp its IT approach to support its technology and global business, which had in-house apps spread across 1,000 different servers around the world. Having worked with Rackspace previously, it had confidence in Rackspace’s expertise in IT transformation, and decided to take up its managed public cloud services for Microsoft Azure, and professional services for cloud migration, performance and scalability. Yet, this resulted in greater gained cost-savings and increased agility, as Noble moved its massive workloads to the Azure cloud with round-the-clock expertise from Rackspace. This proved to be a wise choice. To adapt to Noble Group’s fast changing business model, Rackspace needed to migrate 60 percent of its resources from on-premises infrastructure to Azure, following eight months of planning. At the end of the cloud migration, Noble Group successfully reduced the 2,000 servers from its infrastructure to just 200 servers.
