How to navigate a crowded vendor landscape and find the best endpoint protection solution
According to the 2018 SANS Endpoint Security Survey, more than 80 percent of known breaches involve an endpoint. That’s why finding the most effective endpoint protection has never been more important. Unfortunately, with hundreds of options on the market, all claiming the same “next-gen” features, choosing the best endpoint security for your organization can be challenging.
Read the Endpoint Protection Buyers Guide to learn:
• Why you should ensure that the solution you choose includes these five key elements: prevention (NGAV), detection (EDR), managed threat hunting (MDR), threat intelligence, and IT hygiene and vulnerability assessment
• Details on the role each of these elements plays in ensuring your organization’s security
• The evaluation criteria you should apply and questions to ask to ensure a solution is truly effective
• How the cloud-native CrowdStrike Falcon® next-gen endpoint prote
Data loss remains a serious issue , and data loss prevention is an important tool for companies to reduce the risk of a breach. The Ponemon Institute conducted a global survey of 1,000 IT decision makers, to develop benchmarks for data loss prevention incidents, visibility, and maturity.
Spyware is on the rise and has been the cause of many data breaches. Stopping it needs to be a strategic part of an organization's overall security plan. Reactive signature-based anti-virus and firewall technology is not a complete solution to prevention. Read this white paper to learn the top five behaviors associated with data theft and how advanced behavioral detection solutions is an effective technology for stopping spyware and can identify and prevent legitimate applications from being misused.
Data breaches can carry very serious consequences, such as the revelation in February 2008 that that the Hannaford Brothers chain of supermarkets lost more than four million debit and credit card numbers to hackers. The bottom line is that organizations must implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems to protect themselves against the growing array of threats they face from inadvertent and malicious data leaks from email, instant messaging and other systems.
In January of 2008, a random sample of online technical newsletter subscribers at midsize companies (100-5,000 employees) received an email invitation to participate in a survey about data protection solutions use at their organizations. The goal of the survey was to identify sources of and/or reasons for information security breaches, and to better understand how businesses are planning to protect themselves against data leaks. The following report presents top line results of the study.
Companies rely on knowledge assets, such as product formulas and customer databases. VPNs and network monitors can protect proprietary information from outsiders; but, they won't do much to prevent access by internal users. With the popularity of wireless networks, USB drives and other portable devices, it's all too easy for insiders to leak key data. This white paper explains how Trend Micro LeakProof 3.0 protects sensitive data at rest, in use, and in motion.
Encryption will help to protect data against unauthorized access by outsiders from lost or stolen devices such as laptops, thumb drives, and other removable media. But it does not protect against the insider threat-employees and contractors with authorized access to data who mistakenly or maliciously leak your most valuable assets.
SANS conducted this survey to explore how organizations are handling prevention. Breaking down possible preventive measures into four major categories or domains (business, architectural design and development, operational, and technology), the survey sought to answer three major questions:
1. What measures have respondents implemented that they believe will prevent breaches?
2. What measures not necessarily implemented do respondents consider preventive?
3. What barriers have stopped respondents from doing what they should be doing?
