As enterprise computing has evolved, businesses have been shifting to a “hybrid enterprise” where core applications and data can be located in private data centers and public clouds. The growth of hybrid cloud deployments accelerated the transition to hybrid wide-area networks (WANs). Private networks, such as MPLS, are being joined by Internet connections that offer a choice in delivery
channels—costly, but predictable, networks for mission-critical loads and cheaper public networks for bulk loads such as data backups.

Another must have feature of any modern Availability solution is self-service restore. Self-service restore is essentially a delegation, or granting the task of restoring files within the guest OS to users that have administrative rights. In many organizations, there are users who are responsible for the applications running within the VMs. These application owners are the primary administrators for the files and folders within the VM — so why would they have to go to a backup administrator to simply restore a file? Self-service restore allows these applications owners to log into a portal, search through the content of the backups for their VMs only and perform any necessary restores of those files back to their original or new locations.

As a smaller organization tasked with big responsibilities – public health and exceptional customer service around the clock – Vallejo needed a backup solution that kept pace with the growing needs of their company and customers and was easy to manage. They understood that backups played a critical role to success, but their existing solution was slow, cumbersome and expensive in their new, virtualized environment. They needed a solution that would boost backup speeds within their existing HP architecture while simplifying and streamlining management and cutting costs.
This paper focuses on Data Domain Boost and the many benefits it provides compared to doing traditional backups. Its purpose is to explain the technical and business reasons why DD Boost will change the way you do backups.
As you try to restore a critical backup, is there a more unnerving question than, "What happened to my data?" See how you can avoid the classic pitfalls of backing up data and learn what to do in the event that your backups go bad.
The study’s findings highlight discrepancies—between IT departments and end users—in the approach and attitudes toward data protection. The results provide compelling evidence that there is vast room for improvement in securing critical data flowing between the corporate enterprise and endpoint devices. Read this paper to find how to protect your data today.
Data loss, theft or breach is inevitable, but backup assures recovery, continuity and rapid response.
Endpoint data backup is at the core of an enterprise data security strategy. Modern endpoint backup goes well beyond backup and restore, delivering risk reduction across the enterprise and addressing perennial IT and business problems. Discover more by reading this whitepaper.

Collaboration services, email, managed services, and backups and disaster recovery are the most common current use cases for cloud services, according to the results of a new SANS survey on cloud security. The 485 IT professionals who participated in the survey reported using a variety of cloud providers and service models, including software-as-aservice (SaaS) cloud offerings, along with a fairly even mix of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) implementations. Most respondents said they are investing in both public and private clouds as needs dictate.
