Large Established Storage Vendors, Brands and Products Are No Longer Risk-Free

The perceived wisdom that it is safer to buy from an established storage vendor (see Note 1) is no longer applicable. Smaller storage vendors (see Note 2) have the "attacker's advantage," based on "clean sheet" designs, new business models, and products that are simpler to purchase, support, upgrade and operate. This is in contrast with incumbent vendors that have a larger collection of legacy products, resulting from disparate internal designs and acquisitions.

This whitepaper reveals how I&O leaders can no longer rely on the assumption that it is safer to buy from established storage vendors when compared to new suppliers. This research describes what I&O leaders must do to benefit from structural changes in the storage industry.
