Increasingly, large scale enterprise networks are being pressed to their breaking points. Organizations continue to consolidate data centers, increase their use of server virtualization, and build out private clouds. ESG research validates these trends, as all three are top-ten most important IT priorities reported by respondents to ESG’s annual IT spending intentions research survey.

The increased use of server virtualization has been either the number one priority or tied for number one for the last three years in a row. As these environments mature and go beyond the initial benefits of consolidation, organizations are creating private clouds to achieve greater levels of flexibility and agility.
