Based on the findings of this study, it is clear that AP departments have a long way to go in migrating from inefficient paper-based processes. Paper still represents a high percentage of the work that AP professionals handle each day, and too many organizations process this work without the benefit of technology such as automated data capture or workfow. Here’s the good news: AP departments are doing a good job in holding the line on transaction costs and error rates. And many of them plan to deploy technologies to help eliminate paper processes – once their capital budgets improve.
